The publication of this first Annual Review in English marks the beginning of a new stage in the journey undertaken by Mètode in its endeavour to make rigorous science increasingly attractive to a wider audience. With almost twenty years of experience behind it, Mètode has become a reference publication among the popular science journals on the market. Its quarterly issues are published simultaneously in Catalan and Spanish, with a circulation of 5,500 copies.

Mètode promotes scientific knowledge and critical reflection on recent scientific developments and events through its printed edition, as well as its website (http://www.metode.cat). At the same time, our journal encourages scientists and researchers to popularise their work, so readers learn of the challenges and aspirations of science from the actual specialists working on them.

This Mètode Annual Review encompasses the four special issues published by Mètode in 2010 on nanotechnology, environmental communication, philosophy of human nature and the economic crisis from the scientific and academic standpoint. A selection of interviews and reports are also included, as well as the main sections of the magazine. With this first Annual Review, Mètode takes another step in its effort to build bridges between science and society.
